Master ChefWe all know with cooking it takes practice, lots of getting all the right ingredients in front of you, and of course going to that cookbook or those instructions from Mom or Grandma on that 3 x 5 index card and following the "recipe." Similarly this gives us clues for
How To Become The Master Chef Of Your Life.
For achieving what you want out of of life I have heard that you should decide what you want and then proceed to NOT take NO for an answer from that point forward. The first part can be the hardest determining what you truly want. ACTION is very important and life can get in the way with detours even with not taking NO for an answer (persistence). But one of the real KEYS to becoming that master chef if I may use a bunch of terms is
having a recipe, following a map, looking at your blueprint, working through a checklist, or following a project PLAN.
PLANNING, in all its glorious colors we are already doing in many other parts of our life, like
1. Wedding Planner, invite guests, seating arrangement, church selection, photographer, florist
2.Beach Trip, bring sunglasses, beach towels, umbrella, cooler, sun block
3.Camping Outing, tent, cookware, mosquito repellant, flashlight, water, backpack
4.Training for a half marathon, running shoes, schedule to build up running mileage, water, protein bars
5.Taking a Vacation, mapping out route, sights to be seen, car/air/hotel arrangements
6.Thanksgiving dinner, who to invite, where will they sit, planning the whole meal
So you see we are natural planners already. But what about our other master chef life planniing? Income you would like, work desired, relationship desired, health you would like to have, personal development?
7 The key requisite to the "planning" is TIME AND EFFORT to do the plan. We are all starved for time. But taking the time for the plan, just like planning a vacation, frees your mind to just FOLLOW THE PLAN. We tend to get what we expect and plan for. It is CRITICAL to plan so you are not winging it. Winging it may or may not get you where you want to go and if you do get there it might be just dumb luck. Think of teachers that don't plan what they are teaching. They meander all around as speakers and you try to figure out what is the POINT they are trying to make.
People do plan for simple things like cooking a meal and for larger events once or twice a year things like vacations or holiday plans. Lost in the middle there somewhere is their "life" planning for achieving things that are much more individually meaningful to them. These are the IMPORTANT GOALS. Like increasing your income year over year, learning a new language, or to play an instrument, or learn a dance step, or WORK to enhance a current relationship or find a new one. We become frustrated because truly when you review what you are doing THERE IS NO PLAN there.
Hoping and wishful thinking with these IMPORTANT GOALS will not let you achieve these worth doing items. Secure the services of coaches and mentors or counselors if you can't get off the dime in these areas.
The point is it is "easily doable" if you have a script to follow, and a step by step ACTION PLAN.
Don't forget to add some good PLANNING into your life as you live life so it doesn't escape from you. Afterall the IMPORTANT GOALS are what is important to YOU. That is why you really need to pay attention to them.
